We surveyed 503 people who use AI daily for work, across six professional roles. The finding: the mismatch between how people think and how AI responds isn't a minor annoyance — it's a widespread, daily, costly problem, and people are already managing it by hand.

76% give AI the same instructions about how to respond, over and over. 36% spend two or more hours every week fixing output that doesn't match how they work. 91% actively correct bad output themselves — almost nobody just accepts it. And when asked about a tool that adapts to them automatically, 70% said it would be significantly useful or transformative.

Nobody in this survey needed the problem explained to them. They were already living it.
