ED THOMPSON

I've spent the last decade running Uptimize, and wrote A Hidden Force — both built on one idea: people think differently from one another, and most systems are built for an average person who doesn't really exist.

When I started using AI seriously, as a genuine thinking partner, I noticed the same pattern.

It gave me the same kind of answer it gives everyone else — not wrong, just not shaped for how I think. I'd spend real time reworking it into something I could actually use.

That's the problem Frequency exists to solve.

What We Believe

People don't just know different things. They think differently: how much detail they want, their preference for seeing examples (and when), how they weigh a decision. Those kinds of variation are close to the core of how someone reasons. We think AI shouldn't treat everybody the same, and flatten human thinking — instead, it should be truly personalized to our most human attribute: how we think.

What Frequency Does

Frequency learns how you actually work with AI — not what you write, but how you use it — and tunes the AI to fit you. It's grounded in research on individual differences in reasoning and decision-making, built as a working system based on real patterns, not a personality quiz.

Its goal is to help AI appreciate real, observable patterns in how you work, and adjust to them: the way a good colleague learns how you like to be briefed, without ever labelling you.

Frequency is in early alpha. We're still learning, and genuinely curious to hear from people who think carefully about cognition, individual difference, or human–AI interaction. If that's you, we'd like to hear from you.
